Lost my momentum
I love watching content on YouTube. Especially of creators who are great storytellers. The ability to pull in the viewers attention with great narrative is quite amazing. I've always found them inspiring.
That inspiration was the reason I created my own YouTube channel years ago. A place where I could experiment with visual storytelling and share it with the world.
I uploaded couple of videos in the past than I stopped. I lost the momentum to make videos. I blamed my circumstances, not having enough time and no good stories to tell. Which in fact is not true. My main problem was perfectionism. I was trying to reach the unreachable. I was over-complicating things which led to decision fatigue and inaction.
The time spent perfecting would have been better off executing. Progress over perfection. I need to accept the fact that my videos will look like shit. Like most things, it'll suck when starting out. It's part of the game. As for my videos, I now strive for completion, not perfection. It's not about getting it perfect the first time. Rather, being part of the process.
So if you're someone like me who has lost the momentum to create. My advice to you, and also me, is to never let your desire for perfection prevent you from finishing something that's good. Because finishing something will teach you so much that overthinking can never do. So finish what you started, even if it's not perfect.
